Nikole E

Peer Counsellor

Hi, I’m Nikole (She/Her),

I’m passionate about the practise of truth, kindness, compassion, gratitude, healthy relationships, evidence-based and holistic health, our planet, and doing the work so as to live my best life I can and not allowing my past to dictate my present or future.

I’m also into books, art, music, and connecting with nature - you’ll find me walking or with my kids and our dog on the beach often. I meditate and drink herbal tea every morning. I read at least a chapter of something every day. I write down five things I’m grateful for every night. These are some of the practical ways I manage my mental health.

I’m 5’2” (just). I’m a mum of four kids (aged 11-21) and two fur babies (a poodle mix and a rag doll). I would describe myself as an extroverted introvert.

I believe that we all matter. That we are all enough. That we all need a place to connect, share our stories and to be heard. This is how we can find meaning within and from our experiences. Knowing this, is a way that can lead to hope and healing.

I have lived experience of acute anxiety, depression, toxic/abusive relationships, emotional eating/drinking, postnatal depression, grief, and as a parent of children with diagnosed acute general anxiety disorder and depression with suicidal ideation.

My academic qualifications include a Diploma in Counselling, Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Family Therapy, Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and Master of Counselling. I have further education in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and ACT for Trauma.

I think that about sums me up in a somewhat brief version. I’m so glad that you decided to visit Peerhear and warmly welcome you to explore.

“We stop, whether by choice or through circumstance…..We wait for our souls to catch up with our bodies” - Eugene Peterson.
