Youth MHFA

* Youth MHFA - A new Mental Health First Aid offering for the Metcash team.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (Youth MHFA) builds the skills and confidence to recognise, connect with and support a young person or young adult aged 12–24 who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.

Just like Workplace Mental Health First Aid, the program provides practical skills to notice the signs, start a conversation, provide initial support and encourage appropriate professional help.

The difference is that Youth MHFA focuses specifically on the experiences and challenges faced by young people and young adults. It also explores important areas not covered in the Workplace MHFA program, including non-suicidal self-injury and eating disorders.

These skills can be valuable when supporting younger people within the Metcash community and in everyday life — as a parent, family member, friend, coach, colleague or member of your local community.

Who can participate?

Youth MHFA is a standalone program, so you don't need any previous Mental Health First Aid training to take part.

Already a member of the Metcash Mental Health First Aid team? You are also encouraged to participate. Youth MHFA complements your existing training by expanding your knowledge, confidence and practical skills when supporting young people and young adults.

(If unsure please contact Steven Gamble on 0405420413 or via email steven@anchorhealth.com.au)

Metcash MHFA Peer Support Group Sessions: This is an opportunity to bring the MHFA team together to ask questions, share experiences and hone skills. This will be conducted via Zoom. Preregistration is not required, just click the below link to join.
